Moonlit Path

’Moonlit Path’ is an example of George Callaghan’s ‘fantasy’ landscape paintings. What, at first glance, appears a conventional landscape picture emerges as a rich and flowing landscape of the imagination filled with stylised trees, small cottages and a winding path that appears to lead us into the distance. One is drawn into the painting as if being taken on a journey into an imaginary land.

George Callaghan’s background as a designer is evident in ‘Moonlit Path’. His style has been called ‘animated, folkloric and fairytale’. Each of these elements combine to create his individual approach: ‘I think style is something that evolves from your own personality and life experience. It’s not something anyone can teach you.’
