The Institute traces its origins back to 1852 when the Athenaeum Society started a School Of Arts and Fine Crafts in Limerick. Limerick School of Art offers painting courses which seek to provide art students with a broad range of skills that can be developed and adapted in a variety of ways. The Course provides the physical and intellectual environment for students to gain a greater personal awareness of visual language, and to be able to organise and translate that experience in the production of engaging works.
