The Red Rag Gallery art exhibition features the work of 8 contemporary Irish artists, whose contributions span a range of visual and emotional experience - from the endearing elaboration of the day-to-day by Anji Allen , through the quirky townscapes of Val Byrne and the evocative Irish landscapes of Cormac O'Leary and Laurence O'Toole to the finely observed and thoughtful images of cafe and lounge life of Brian Smyth . Commenting on the latest art show Gallery Manager Carole Teagle says: "Irish art has seen considerable worldwide interest in recent years. As probably the largest gallery for contemporary Irish art outside of London it is a pleasure to showcase some of Ireland's leading living artists in the Cotswolds." Painter Anji Allen has not included a Gold Cup in her artwork but she is well known for her beautiful oil paintings featuring teacups. She says: "My paintings are an emotional response to memory, reminding me of people and places, of times spent with friends and family, chatting over a cup of tea or coffee." A visit to the Irish exhibition at Red Rag Gallery will be a fine counterpoint to the excitement of the Festival offering a sense of treasured, shared experience and a fascinating insight into contemporary Irish Art.
