''Landscape II'' is an example of George Callaghan''s ''fantasy'' landscape paintings. What, at first glance, appears a conventional coastal landscape picture emerges as a rich and flowing landscape of the imagination filled with stylised trees and a line of cliffs that appears to lead us into the distance. One is drawn into the painting as if being taken on a journey around the coast.
